Since 2001, a home and safe haven for wolves and wolf dogs who had nowhere else to go.
The Tsitsikamma Wolf Sanctuary opened its gates in 2001, the first of its kind in the country. We are a women-owned, registered non-profit, and we exist for one reason: to give wolves and wolf dogs a safe, permanent home.
Most of our animals were surrendered from the exotic pet trade, or handed over by parks and facilities that could no longer keep them. Wolves are not indigenous to South Africa and they cannot be released, so once an animal arrives, it stays with us for life. Over the years we have given more than 500 wolves and wolf dogs that home.
We are off-grid and in the Tsitsikamma, with housing enclosures and veterinary isolation camps. We receive no government funding at all. Everything we do is paid for by donations, sponsorships, and the daily guided tours that bring visitors here to learn.
